2. The Ongoing Nakba

Listen to the stories of Palestinian refugee women who experienced the 1948 exodus, and visit an installation that considers the ongoing plight of female refugees from Palestine and around the world.

3. Suffragette: Charity Film Screening
Whitworth Art Gallery
Don't miss the very special charity screening of 'Suffragette (2015)', held less than a mile away from where the Suffragette movement began, and a century after women first won the partial right to vote.
The film itself features a strong cast of Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter.
The Event is being run by The Pankhurst Trust (incorporating Manchester Women's Aid), alongside the Village Screen. There will also be a wine tasting prior to the film commencing.

4. Film Focus: Hooligan Sparrow
Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, Market buildings, Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1EU
CFCCA presents a special one-off screening of Hooligan Sparrow (2016) – a powerful documentary about China’s most prominent women’s rights activist, exposing the levels of fear and oppression inside one of the world’s most powerful nations.

5. SHE PWR

Aimed at supporting and inspiring female collaboration, this showcase at Gorilla celebrates the talented women of Manchester in all their ways, shapes and forms.
There’ll be live music from female-fronted bands and DJs in the main bar, along with comedy, cabaret and spoken word performances in collaboration with Pen:Chant in the club space next door.

A female makers market will also have stalls in the bar, selling clothing, jewellery, embroidery, screen prints, ceramics, illustrations and photography.
Free Entry to the bar and studio, but entry to the stage requires tickets that are £8-12 with profits will go to Women Asylum Seekers Together, tickets can be found here.
